studentSPECIAL OPTIONS

In addition to taking IUS classes, you may choose to supplement your program of study with one or more of the following special options, all of which are described below:

  • Attending courses at the University of Seville.
  • Requesting a Special Study Project.
  • Participating in a Psychology Internship

UNIVERSITY OF SEVILLE COURSES

During the fall and spring semesters, you have the option of attending Cursos Concertados. These classes are offered by the University of Seville, taught by Spanish professors and designed for American students.

Also open to American students with sufficient command of Spanish are the regular University of Seville classes for Spanish students; these courses begin in the fall and are taught on a year-long basis. We recommend that you take advantage of this option only if you plan to attend the fall semester.

  • Fall Dates: 1st week of October through middle of December
  • Spring Dates: 1st week of February through last week in May

Note: University of Seville classes carry an additional tuition fee paid by IUS to the University of Seville and require the approval of your home school advisor. If you are taking University of Seville classes, IUS tutorial support may be assigned. IUS has no control over the hours and days the University of Seville classes are scheduled. This fact may result in scheduling conflicts.

SPECIAL STUDY PROJECT

If you enroll during the fall or spring semester and wish to pursue a study interest outside the course offerings of IUS, you may ask us to help you develop a Special Study Project. In the past we have tailored projects around subjects such as Child Psychology, Bible Study, Studio Art and French Horn.
You may request a Special Study Project if you meet these requirements:

  • You first receive approval from your home-college advisor.
  • You notify IUS at least 45 days before the start of the semester so our staff may conduct a feasibility study.
  • Your command of Spanish is sufficient to ensure your success in completing the work of the Special Study Project.
  • You agree to pay any additional cost associated to the Special Study Project, such as registration, books, transportation…

PSYCHOLOGY INTERSHIP PROGRAM

IUS has a strong link with the Universidad Pablo de Olavide's Psychology Department especially in Sports Psychology studies. This has made it possible for IUS to set up psychology internships. IUS' Academic Supervisor, Dr. José Carlos Jaenes, is the President of the XI Congreso Nacional, Andaluz y III Iberoamericano de Psicología de la Actividad Física y del Deporte to be held in Seville form March 5th to March 8th, 2008.

"The faculty is great. Whenever I needed help, they were there."

GRADE REPORTS

At the end of each semester or intensive session for which you are enrolled, we will issue a grade report for all courses you've taken as well as for your approved outside studies. This report will use the American letter grade system and will reflect the semester credit-hour recommendations listed with the course descriptions.
We will send your grade report to your home college or university, which will then grant academic credit for the work done. It is important that you obtain approval from your home school before classes begin for the courses you intend to take in Seville. This is your responsibility as the student.

ADD/DROP POLICY

With the appropriate approval from you home-institution’s academic advisor, you ma change courses during the Drop/Add Period of a Semester or Intensive Session. The Droop/Add Period during a Semester Program runs the first fifteen days of class. During the Intensive Sessions, the Drop/Add Period runs the first three days of class.
