STUDENT HOUSING

Most IUS students are housed in a private home with a local Spanish family that has experience hosting American students. When space is available we are able to house some students in a "residencia", or boardinghouse, which houses four to fifteen students of the same gender. Living accommodations are double-occupancy rooms, with a few single-occupancy rooms available on a first-come first-served basis. All IUS student housing has been previously screened and evaluated by IUS staff for safety and comfort.

YOUR ROOM

Your room, while probably not as large as a typical American bedroom, will meet Spanish standards of comfort. You will have a bed, a place to store your belongings, and a place to study in your room or elsewhere in the house.

ROOMMATES

You can expect to share a room with another university student of the same gender —either another IUS student, a student from another study abroad program, or a Spanish university student. IUS does not permit co-ed housing under any circumstances.

MEALS

Your room and board includes three meals a day, seven days a week at your assigned housing.

 LAUNDRY

Your laundry will be done once a week by the "señora" at your assigned housing.

"I'm amazed at how much I have learned here—especially in the grammar class with Maria— she is a wonderful teacher."
