RESEARCH
In addition to its own research collection and the libraries of the University of Seville (the Central Library and several smaller departmental libraries), IUS can help you access other libraries in Seville, including general and specialized research collections.
INSURANCE
Life, accident and health insurance are provided to you as an IUS student. This health insurance covers general medicine, emergency medical attention, specialists' visits and laboratory tests. It does not pay for medication you may need to take. Your acceptance packet includes additional information on IUS' insurance policies. (Refer to Everything
You Wanted to Know About Studying Abroad ... But Forgot to Ask!). This insurance coverage is provided at no extra cost.
TRAVEL
There are three options open to you as you plan your travel to Spain once you have been accepted to the IUS study abroad program:
- Through a travel agency located in Philadelphia, PA, you may purchase special-fare, round-trip tickets for our IUS designated flight from Philadelphia to Seville. This travel agent can also coordinate your transportation to Philadelphia from any city in the U.S.; OR
- Through them, you may acquire tickets, at special rates, and travel to Seville independently; OR
- You may make arrangements through your own travel agent.
- With your acceptance packet you will receive additional information. The travel agency strongly recommends that you make your travel arrangements as soon as possible.
- If you make your own arrangements, be sure to notify IUS at least 3 weeks in advance of your expected arrival date and time in Seville. If you make your travel arrangements through the Philadelphia travel agency, they will informe us of your arrival day and time.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ID
IUS provides its students with an International Student ID Card. The International Student ID card allows you to receive discounts to various attractions in and around Seville, the rest of Spain and Europe. The card also provides additional insurance coverage (described in detail in our booklet, Everything You Wanted to Know About Studying Abroad... But Forgot to Ask!).
Obtaining a Card
IUS provides the International Student ID Card for its students through a local agency. IUS provides this card at no added cost to the student.
MEDICAL CARE
In addition to the health care provided through our health insurance coverage, IUS has made special arrangements with professional health care providers in Seville. These specialists —medical doctors and "ATS" (Ayudantes Tecnicos Sanitarios) —attend to the medical needs of our students. Covered health areas include general medicine, gynecology, obstetrics, traumatology, dentistry and psychological counseling. Medical costs not covered by the IUS medical insurance plan are usually recoverable from your US insurance provider.
